2003 Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference

 

The Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference is a program scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2003 for all faculty (full-time and part-time), staff, and TAs. Sessions throughout the conference will highlight effective instructional strategies for teaching and learning.

Presentations are solicited which relate to engaging students in research, creating relevant experiences or internships for students in the metro St. Louis community, and fostering active learning during instruction in the classroom and through technology. Proposals with or without a technology presence are welcome. Presentation formats include individual, team, roundtable, or panel presentations on topics such as:

· mentoring students
· using technology in the classroom
· trends in teaching
· enhancing civic engagement
· developing internship experiences
· writing a teaching philosophy
· creating a capstone course
· designing the first-year experiences
· defining student engagement
· meeting students' special needs
· fostering student involvement in research
· learning in the online environment
· formative feedback techniques
· creating effective group projects
· delivering engaging lectures
· service learning in higher education
